The Thorsen Suite (named after the eccentric previous owners ) inspires a grandeur experience. At over 450 square feet, the Thorsen suite provides extravagant furnishings that make you feel like royalty. The lavish wallpaper remains as hung by the Thorsens. A stately cherry king-sized bed with a Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-Choice Luxe Air (an air mattress that individually adjusts for each persons comfort) welcomes you. Two large dressers provide plenty of storage for extended stay guests. This suite is also complete with a bistro table for in room dining, 55” flat screen TV with Apple TV, DVD player, Kuerig coffee maker and coffee, mini-refrigerator, bottled water and more. The solid marble bathroom is home to a large claw foot jacuzzi tub perfect for relaxing. It also hosts a large marble walk in shower. Complete with a gourmet breakfast, this suite is the perfect place to unwind in luxury.
Located on the 2nd floor, the Thorsen Suite has a premium view of the historic district of downtown Shullsburg WI. Looking across Water Street (the main road in town) you will see the Water Street Pub. Its history includes a 1925 bank robbery where the original vault doors of the pub were blown off with nitroglycerin by Chicago Blackie and his gang. The vault is now used to store wine and beer for the pub. To the left the Copeland Opera House use to seat over 600 people upstairs and had 2 commercial store fronts on the street level. The Brewster House can be seen on the right. It was built in the 1840’s and is the oldest brick building in Shullsburg. It is currently home to Shullsburg Cheese Store and Brewster Cafe and gift shop.
